We miss you all!!! As we adapt to all the drastic changes to our routines due to the pandemic, it give us comfort knowing that soon we will be able to enjoy the simple interactions and company that you all provide on a daily basis. This is what gives our work meaning and value. As we continue to prepare ourselves for returning to regular dental care (we do not yet have a confirmed date of return), we understand that there may be a sense of apprehension. We want to assure you that we are diligently working on our collective health and safety and wanted to update you on our latest measures. When we meet again, you will notice that each treatment room will have a Medical Grade Air Purifier. “Surgically Clean Air” system is widely recognized as the most advanced air filtration system on the market, utilized by hospitals and many private surgical clinics. Our system will completely filter the air in each room and reception area every 4 minutes. We have also reactivated our air vacuum system to further expedite the removal of aerosol created during treatment.
We are seeing emergencies at our office. We have all the protective PPE required, including N95 masks (fit tested), gowns, surgical caps, shoe protection, eyewear and face shields. All elective dentistry and hygiene appointments are being re-scheduled until further notice following Public Health and the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario.
I want to reassure you that Iris Dentistry Team has always maintained the highest level of cleanliness and sterility to protect our patients and staff from spreading illness and cross contamination. Each treatment room has always had every surface disinfected after every patient.
The dental chairs, counters, and all surfaces are wiped down with hospital grade disinfectants after each and every procedure. Every instrument is washed, disinfected, bagged and then sterilized. Anything that can’t be sterilized is disposed. Each instrument pack has a date stamped on it and inside the pack is an indicator strip that ensures the deepest portion of the instrument kit achieved the required temperature to be sterile.
Every day the sterilizer has a live culture test to ensure it is working properly. Every surgical instrument kit is quarantined after sterilization. We treat the water in our dental chairs to ensure sterility. Then we test the waterlines routinely with more live culture tests to ensure they remain clean.
Besides the cleanliness of treatment rooms, instrument sterilization, water treatment and air purification, we are now screening all of our patients and ensuring that if they have traveled, have sick family members at home, or are even mildly unwell that they do not come to our office. Every patient that enters will now be required to sanitize their hands immediately, wear a mask at all times when they are not in treatment and, remove their street shoes. At this time we are also requesting patients to avoid any accompanying guests. We have rearranged our waiting room taking social distancing into consideration and have removed all toys and magazines. All staff, not just our treatment providers, will now be wearing face shields, gowns and masks all day to ensure their protection and yours. We will sanitize all surfaces that patients touch, such as debit machines, reception chairs, and door handles.
These are certainly unprecedented times. Never in our recent past have we collectively been asked to participate in such an act of social responsibility.Let’s ensure that this sense of community continues beyond the COVID-19 pandemic. Together we can make a difference. We hope that you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy. A sincere THANK YOU to our beloved essential workers who are allowing our communities to continue to operate.Stay home. Stay safe. Stay fit.Sincerely,Dr. Iris Moreira & Iris Dentistry Team[/cs_content_seo]
